Since the introduction to Leeds walk, in the first year of college; I have long been interested in the Leeds to Liverpool Canal; I found it a great place of sanctuary in the busy city life; Something that I am not used to having to go out and look for; as I lived with a bridal path beside my house, a farm next door, woodland nearby and living at the foot of the cleveland hills.
I realize now, how very lucky I was as a child to have these things; However the Canal, having walked up and down it various times when I am feeling a little homesick; offers a great variety in landscape, some very dramatic contrasts infact.
Starting with the cityscape, luxury skyscrapers, the view then changes to industry, then woodland, again industry, parks, open farmland, suburban etc; The place has a great deal to offer visually...
